Fans of Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye
season contestant, Maria, has now been
named as ‘Marudites’, being one of the
first recognised fan bases in the season
six edition.
This was announced via Maria’s Twitter
handle, @Mariachike, on Monday
morning, the Day two of the BBNaija
season six.
According to the tweet, Marudites
represent people that are
knowledgeable, beautiful, and loving.
“It’s official fam! We are Marudites. We
coined this from ‘Maria’, ‘erudite’, and
aphrodite. So basically, it represents
knowledgeable, loving, and beautiful
people,” the tweet read.
Many fans are excited about their new
name as they even introduced a blue
butterfly as their symbol.
However, this decision did not go well
with some of the fans as they have
taken to Twitter to reject the name.
A fan, @tife_fabunmi, tweeted, “We?
Who are the ‘we’? What we approved is
Marians, any other name is fake.”

@Yollz_D said, “Chill and relax. This
name is distasteful. Sounds like an
unknown virus!”
Another fan, @olajumokefaniy1 said,
“This does not follow. Pick up four of
the names the fans have chosen and put
them on a voting poll. I have seen
Marians, Marines, Minjas, Dimarians,
and so many more. Don’t impose a
name on us, please. It’s too early.”
“Marines is a good name, which one is
marudites? How does that relate to
Maria?” @saralityb said.
@shugarcoatedb said, “Marudites kwa?
I love Maria oh but this fanbase name is
somehow oh”
As a result of the disagreements, a poll
has been created via Maria’s Twitter
page, as fans are now being allowed to
choose between Marudites, Marvels, and
Marians, as their fan base name.
