The Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination Board (JAMB) has officially approved the deadline for the 2021/2022 admission process into universities and polytechnics in Nigeria. Admission into public universities will close officially on December 19th, 2021.

JAMB admission deadline for all universities and polytechnics in Nigeria 2021/2022 • 2021 public Universities admission – November 16th, and December 17th, 2021. This is for the both of First and Second Choice candidates.

• All private institutions – February 15th, 2022

Meanwhile, the Second Choice admission for public universities will begin on November 17th and close on December 17th 2021. This was made known by JAMB’s Head, Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, during an interview in Lagos.

The decision on the deadline, he said, was reached at the policy meeting with stakeholders on June 11th, at Gbogan, Osun state. He disclosed that the Board’s focus for the 2021

admission is on ensuring that candidates take up more of the available admission spaces, which were different in 2008, where over 500, 000 spaces were left unutilized in all arms of tertiary institutions.

On another note, the JAMB CAPS portal which allows candidates to track their admission status has been activated for use. Candidates can now check their admission status on the portal.

Checking Admission Status on School Portal While it is true that you must check and accept your offer of admission on the JAMB portal via CAPS , you must also check your school’s portal for a facility of the same nature. Have these in mind:
• The offer of admission can only be accepted on your school’s portal.
• Payment of acceptance levy can only be made on your school’s portal.
• Fresher registration can only be done on the portal.
• Further details and updates on your admission can only be accessed via the portal.
