rapper, singer and songwriter, Zoro just
made “Good Life … DaBaby has been through a lot over the past few
years, and just a few weeks ago, his brother Glen
Johnson tragically took his own life after battling
mental health issues.
Since Johnson’s death, DaBaby has been
advocating for mental health awareness, and on
Friday, he released a 7-track EP dedicated to his
late brother, called My Brother’s Keeper (Long Live
G).
Every track here contains emotional lyrics,
including the Meek Mill assisted “8 Figures” which
sees DaBaby grappling with his fame and how
despite all of the heartbreak’s he remains pure and
well-intentioned.
Both artists rap about not being appreciated, which
is a motif that has more to do with their romantic
relationships. “FOREIGN SONGS… Megan Thee Stallion released her debut album on
Friday, Good News , and fans are already enjoying
the project quite a bit. The album is packed with
dope songs and even features some lyrics that
will certainly be seen as a diss to those who used
to be close to her.
Having said that, there are some obvious standouts
on the project, including “Freaky Girls” which
features the likes of Sza. The song starts with a
hook from Sza who is offering up some sexually
explicit lyrics.
Meg ultimately matches this energy as she gets
into her braggadocios bag, all while delivering a
steady flow that will be appreciated by music
listeners. “FOREIGN SONGS… Jeezy stuck to his guns by predominantly dropping his classic records from the mid-aughts. Recession 2 , the sequel to the 2008 album, showcased much of his growth but with Don Cannon’s production, there are moments where we hear Jeezy back in the mud. “ Modern Day ” is an example showcasing this. Jeezy is back in the dirt with this one with social commentary on systemic racism, observing how it’s evolved, rather than ever attempted at being dismantled. “FOREIGN SONGS… She’s not one to hold her tongue, and it sounds as
if Masika Kalysha is lashing out in the studio. The
multihyphenate entertainer and businesswoman has
been steadily working on her rap career for years.
Masika unleashed “ Masether,” a single where she
spits a barrage of bars at Tory Lanez, a response
to him mentioning her in his track “Sorry I Had To.”
Lanez included a number of entertainers who spoke
out against him while also praising Kylie Jenner.
On “ Masether ,” Masika stated that she decided to
bite back at the Canadian artist because he
mentioned her daughter, Khari, in his lyrics. There
are all sorts of allegations strewn throughout the
track, so you’ll just have to press play to get your
fill.
The Shade Room reposted Masika’s artwork and
music, so Tory jumped in the comments to make
fun of her. “Not the thunder in the artwork hitting
with the drop off,” he wrote with laughing emojis. “FOREIGN SONGS… Another day, another milestone hit by Eminem . This time, we’re looking at the seven-year anniversary of The Marshall Mathers LP 2, one of the most divisive albums of his career. For one, it found Em moving further away from the foundation he built alongside Dr. Dre, instead working with the legendary Rick Rubin, who brought a rock-inspired sensibility to the project. While Rubin’s production remains a point of contention for some of Em’s fanbase, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 wasn’t entirely a departure, with songs like the conclusive “Evil Twin” serving as a bloody reminder of Slim Shady’s villainy. A near-six minute clinic of nonstop bars — essentially a darker companion track of the legendary “Rap God” — “ Evil Twin” provides Slim with a slow-burning and menacing instrumental from Sid Roams. Matching the beat’s pace, Em delivers a methodical flow with space for the myriad punchlines to land. Calling back to some of his vintage lyrical content, Em effortlessly weaves between rhyme schemes as he puts his cleverness on display. “FOREIGN SONGS…
